Opening day 2012/13, at Brighton, came and went faster than the 80’s, real punk rock and last winter combined. From the early hours of Tuesday morning till 9 a.m. anxious shralpers packed Majestic Lift’s cattle herders like sardines waiting to take advantage of the untouched – slightly shark toothed- powder fields waiting to get slashed. For those of us against the rocky and sticky surprises waiting patiently in the great unknown- Snake Creek Lift was offering nice fast and long groomers for miles. Of course no Brighton run is complete without a dip into the park- Lower Majestic had just that and a bag of new tricks. Open were: a nice set of hand rails, some boxes for the early birds, our brand new mini rainbow rail, a few more little guys and a big ole’- fresh from the KAB Rails workshop- up-flat-down “battleship” rail. Friends of Brighton and the snowboard world: Alex Andrews, Ted Borland, JP Walker, Seth Huot and more also came to welcome back B-town in style. Crest Lift opened today and we’re expecting a fully operational Brighton in the coming weeks. Come make turns!!!

Our photographer Jesse Anderson had some fun knee surgery last week and is using a sweet Gandalf cane instead of a snowboard to get around thus making park pictures tricky. He managed to brave the incline just in time to steal my soul launching off of our new feature. Here’s what else he got. (Opening week edit by: Mia Lambson dropping Sunday!)
