The first ever Utah Jazz Jam at Brighton Ski Resort combined the interests of snow bros, sweet bros, tall bros, and mascot bros all to create an unforgettable snowboarding event like no other. Special guest NBA/Utah Jazz player Ronnie Price was scheduled to show up, but apparently he was only able to send an entourage of friends in his place. The snowboarders didn’t even seem to notice, they saw tall African American dudes struggling to walk up the hill in their Nike Airs and just assumed they were part of the dream team.

They might as well have been because they helped with the product toss at the end of the day and could throw further than any Celtek rep that was standing around simply delivering the alley-oup with most of the product. The official mascot of the Utah Jazz, the Jazz Bear made an appearance along with his sled that he usually uses to slide down the stadium steps. He had an easy time adjusting to the natural snow, and even stepped it up for a sled ride on the down-flat box that was part of the rail jam

Aside from Utah Jazz affiliated guests, Laura Hadar showed up a few hours late. After shooting the shit with her for a while, she explained that although she lives in Salt Lake and calls Brighton her home resort, she did not have a pass so she had to rely on telling jokes to the local lifties until gaining enough confidence to ask them to led her slide “just this once”. It was the first time I had seen her on her snowboard since her injury. She is back in action.

Other local sudo-snow bro celeb, Cameron Pierce entered the rail jam and killed every obstacle in the course which later led to his victory and put $1,000 dollars in cash in his hands for winning first place. Cameron Pierce is a genuinely nice gangster kid from North Carolina. He works on Brightons terrain park crew and is now on the Forum Am team. He is by far one of the best jibbers I have ever had the privilege to shoot. He has Backside 360 5050’s down pat and he let that be known in the rail jam.

First Place and $1,000 cash went to Cam Pierce. Coming in second place in the open division was Zak Hale. Third place was awarded to Variety Packs favorite little brother Sean Black who is sick and tired of people saying “not to be confused with Shawn WHITE. So if you see him, make sure to plug that joke into conversation.

The woman were throwing down as well. Nikita represented well with Madison Blackley taking 1st place, and Gabby Maiden taking second. Gabby killed the flat down kinked rail with a FS 5050 Fs 360 out. Third place was awarded to Jessica Mariana.

The first ever Utah Jazz Jam set the standard for future events that are daring enough to attempt to combine the likes of basketball and snowboarding, and all that falls in between.
