–Top Under 18 Snowboard Athletes Compete at Brighton Resort—
Brighton, UT—April 2, 2011—Under varied skies, 15 youth snowboard athletes fought for bragging rights to claim the inaugural Red Bull Minors Cup title. Hiking 30 minutes above the lifts, each athlete chose harrowing lines down Millicent Peak, over both natural and man-made obstacles. After completing two runs each, Sam Taxwood claimed victory and title of Red Bull Minors Cup Champion.
Judges awarded points based on line choice fluidity and amplitude of airs taken. Three snowboarding legends, Ali Goulet, Tim Ostler and Brandon Ruff, were tasked with judging the talented field of athletes. “The Red Bull Minors Cup is really pushing the progression of young riders in the all mountain category,” said judge Ali Goulet.
Riding high on his second place finish, Tristan Clegg remarked, “Everything about this event was done well, it was a great venue with outstanding riders invited; it really couldn’t have been a better contest.”
The athletes, hailing from Oregon to Vermont, competed to showcase some of the best under 18 snowboard talent in the country. Riders were chosen based on video submissions, suggestions from industry pros and coaches, and past competition performances. A competition of this extreme nature has generally been reserved for older, elite riders. Red Bull Minors Cup celebrated the rising talent represented by the under 18 age bracket.
Brighton Resort, Utah’s first ski area, started as a mining town but has a history of yielding top snowboarders because of its great terrain and bountiful snowfall. Millicent Peak has a history of being the “proving ground” for up and coming riders.

It’s the middle of March and that means plenty of sun and snow for Brighton, UT
On Saturday March 5 the Slug Games Construction to Destruction occurred at our very on Brighton Resort. The event was open to skiers and boarders and the set up was insane. Plenty of jibs with riders still able to catch air and the course concluded with a quarter pipe at the end. Everyone that came threw down, but here’s who made the final cut. Each winner received a prize bag and the ultimate winners received some pretty awesome swag. There was also a product toss while the judges deliberated so everyone went home a winner.
