SLUG games Dawn of the Shred Recap

SLUG magazine was at Brighton this past Saturday presenting their annual SLUG GAMES, this years theme being Dawn of the Shred. DJ Matty Mo was on the scene providing beats for all the contestants along with pretty much everybody on the hill as the set up was right underneath Majestic Lift. As always SLUG fronted the bill for all contestants registration and created a unique feature for the event, being a tombstone bonk box, which i heard might be staying on the hill for a little bit.

StepChild Child Support Rail Jam

On a rare cold and snowy Saturday StepChild came to Brighton as part of their Child Support rail jam tour. The park crew worked up a course on Thursday which comprised of the new triple drop round bar, the new down flat down fat round rail, and the down fat round rail. Milosport and Blindside got things tarted right with a round of bugers, hotdogs, chips, and drinks for everyone. Through out the day there were multiple challenges going on. There was an award for best rider on each feature, as well as overall achievers, shredder of the day and special for Brighton the E-Man challenge. The E-man challenge was inspired by Stepchild am E-Man who was ollieing from the flat onto the second and third tier of the drop down feature and was simply a best trick contest for an ollie from the flat onto the drop feature. There was a jam style format from which Stepchild ams and child support members, including Brighton locals Parker Worthen and Brandon Hobush, selected a crew of ten riders for a final jam in which the days top three riders were chosen.

Winners were….

E-Man challenge .. Stefan with 50/50 3 out winning Ashbury shades

Best overall rider down rail .. David Faircloth

Best overall rider down flat down .. Will Ermish

Best overall rider drop down rail .. Everest Arnold

Each won a product voucher from 32

Overall for the day

Third .. David

Second .. Pat

First.. Erik

Each won a prize pack of Neff, Stepchild, and Ashbury goods and Erik also went home with a Stepchild FTW snowboard

Second place winner Pat also took home a Stepchild FTW for being most enthusiastic rider of the day… way to come out and shred it Pat

Special thanks to the park crew for putting in the work to get the course up and event sponsors Stepchild, Ashbury, Neff, Blindside, and Milosport.

Red Bull Butter Cup Recap [updated, more photos]

This past weekend was the third annual Red Bull Butter Cup competition up at Brighton Resort. As always the style was upper level but so was the carnage. Park Crew members Chris Cloud, Parker Worthen, and Marty Siller served as judges for this years competition and they did not have an easy task. Brighton is proud to be chosen by Red Bull to not only kick off the 2011/2012 schedule but also to be the only venue in the Western U.S. We caught up with local Red Bull rep Jordan Schweitzer to get the low down on whats up…

” It’s our third year at Brighton doing the Butter Cup and its a super fun event where we generally get over one hundred entries. It’s for riders of all levels from amateurs through super good almost pros. There’s really something for everyone and good vibe not really about who wins but how much fun you have along the way”

Special thanks to Red Bull for not only allowing Brighton Resort to once again host this event but also for allowing us to keep the boxes. That’s right kids get your butter on all season long on these babies because they are ours now!
